Therapy Modalities
Individual
I work with all populations including seniors and adolescents. I am an eclectic, holistically oriented therapist who determines the method of treatment based on the individual needs of the client. The treatment methods I utilize include insight-oriented, cognitive, behavioral, supportive, and play therapy, More than one method can be utilized with a client to alleviate their issues and and achieve their treatment goals.
Couples
I work with couples to help resolve issues within the relationship, parenting or blended family issues, issues with in-laws or parents, etc. My goal is to identify, explore and resolve the underlying issues that are tearing away at the relationship.
Play Therapy
My office provides a unique play therapy environment to help children express themselves in their own language - the language of play. The "play town" features a community of people, a school, a playground, a supermarket, a library, a theater, a cafe, a horse stable and a police station. There are puppets of every kind and therapeutic games as well as regular games. There are art materials and therapeutic books. The child will find their own modes of expression and utilize them to work through and release their anxieties, anger, fears, frustrations and confusion. The child will feel a great sense of control and validation as he or she plays out his (or her) issues in a safe, non-threatening environment. I engage with the child in a highly interactive and energetic manner on the child's individual level.
Family Therapy
I work with families in different formats, depending on the needs of the specific family. It could be a parent-child session with one or both parents present or it can include the entire family. A session can be conducted just with siblings including the younger children or with grandparents. I often use my play therapy set-up in a creative fashion to actively and productively involve all family members in the session.
